The new Earth PLA Clock is both delicate and rustic, with a finely textured surface produced by a traditional Japanese plastering technique 一 Kakiotoshi (掻き落とし).
Translated in English simply as scraping, Kakiotoshi is a Japanese plastering technique where the surface is scraped with a brush or trowel before the material dries and becomes hard, creating a fine, uneven surface. This adds to the three-dimensional quality of the clock, where the play of light over its surface also reflects the passage of time.
